Saturday With Sasha and Come On Get Crafty - March 2014

Hey everyone!! Welcome to another Saturday with Sasha and Come On Get Crafty - COGC has an awesome new site, hop on for a visit when you have time! For now, since I know most of you are on your mobile device and would prefer not to click a million time to read something, here's a copy of my post over there.

I hope you're enjoying your Saturday so far :) Mine is pretty good. The weather has been awesome lately. Well, after our 'driest February since 1869' we've been having some rain for the past week! The green grass is back and that is something to celebrate! And I have two new layouts to share with you today - I always love when I create. It's not about the outcome, it's the process that I love. What about you? :)

I was in the mood for something simple and quite graphic to go with this photo of Nidhi, trying to build a sandcastle - but didn't want to use block font such as Bebas. I browsed through my cut files collection and settled on this 'Believe in Yourself' handwriting style cut file. I embellished it simply with a few of the Basic Grey Candy Buttons in white and yellow and some die cuts from Pink Paislee Hey Kid ephemera pack. I typed 'Love, Mom' with my manual cursive typewriter and call it done and loving this layout a lot!

Sometime, not layering is fun, you know? ;)

Meet Jack. (please tell me I'm not the only one naming my typewriters/inanimate object!) Jack is my woodgrain, Royal 260 typewriter. Jack is not in working condition, yet. I still need to send him for servicing, but he's one special typewriter. I got this while roaming the night market with my dad. A little backstory - my dad is a journalist. Way before laptops and emails, I used to fall asleep to the 'tap-tap-tap-tap-tap-ding!' of my dad's typewriter. So typewriters have always been special to me. They remind me of my dad, who is still writing to this day ♥

I typed out the little story of why I love typewriters, where I got Jack from etc on a few tags from Dear Lizzy, then I added some feathers die cuts from Glitz Wild & Free whatnots pack and clustered them on top right of the layout. I stitched some chevron using one (the yellow card, to be exact) of the die cut from this pack as a template to call some attention to the 'fun' wood veneer I used as the main title for this layout :)

I hope I've provided some ideas for you today. I hope to see you soon!

xoxo
