Saturday With Sasha and Come On Get Crafty - April 2014

Here's a copy of Saturday With Sasha and Come On Get Crafty. I'm posting this on a Monday because well, I was very busy soaking up my niece who just turned 1 this past weekend! :)

Look at that face! We couldn't get enough of her! :)

I hope you enjoy the two layouts I have here.

**********

April! April? Seriously, I'm beginning to sound like a broken record but 2014 need to slow down! Don't you feel the same way?
I have two layouts to share today, so shall we? :)

Layers upon layers of crafty goodness. I I traced the sunburst pattern from a stencil that I have on hand, pierced the stitching holes, erased the pencil lines then I played with mist on white (now pierced) cardstock, there is something about applying colors on a pristine white surface that is so enjoyable to me. And to many of you too, I think! :)  Once the mist is dry (i like to leave mine overnight, underneath my cutting mat) I stitched.
I typically start with the photos. Then I dig through my supplies and played around with the placement. This time around, I decided on a tabbed tag from Elle's Studio, some Crate Paper die cuts, some toothpick hearts (taken apart) from Dear Lizzy and of course camera and heart paper clips from Webster's Pages. I seem to really love those clips for some reason!
I feel like my cluster is super loaded, so I kept the rest of the page as is :) Of course I had to add some Basic Grey Candy Buttons to finish my layout. I confess, I'm kinda addicted to them!

Another confession - Nidhi is turning 12 this October. And this is a layout about her 8th. LOL :D
I'm super in love with the Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party Epoxy Stickers - so in love that I'm kinda scared to use it even though I have had the idea for this layout for-e-ver!  Then one day I tell myself "Okay Sasha, suck it up. There will always be some other gorgeousness that you absolutely adore down the road. Just use what you have now, and. . . . you can always buy more!!"

So I did just that! I used almost the whole pack of it except for two, I think. And I don't regret a single thing. This layout is looking exactly how I imagined it! :) Aren't they just so pretty? I added some Jenni Bowlin Gold Trims Rub Ons to up the glam factor because I can't get enough of gold for now.

And oh - XOXO came from Crate Paper Wood Veneer shapes pack. If you look carefully, you will be able to see it in the digital mock up image. And I must tell you, that shade of yellow map paper from Recorded 6x6 paper pad has my heart, now and a long time to come probably.

I'll see you around, ya? :) Happy scrapping!

Lizzie Kate Spring Alphabet Sampler. Start to Finish.

If you follow me on Instagram, you'd have noticed that I've started to cross stitch again. A little bit here and there, simple designs from Lizzie Kate for now. I have grand plans, you know me, always very ambitious (which is not always good, i get frustrated when I don't get things done in the allocated time. *sigh*). And what do they say about best laid plans? :)

Kitting a #lizziekate spring sampler. Ready. Get set. Go.  #crossstitch #sashathestitcher #onestitchatatime

Stitching update! #lizziekate #springalphabet #crossstitch #sashathestitcher #onestitchatatime #busyhandshappyheart ❤️

Stitching update on this super sunny thursday in Singapore. (Now that i've said it, it will probably rain. Lol) #lizziekate #springalphabet #crossstitch #sashathestitcher #onestitchatatime #busyhandshappyheart

Hoping this will be the last update before I finish this piece. :) #lizziekate #springalphabet #crossstitch #sashathestitcher #onestitchatatime #busyhandshappyheart

Finished! ☺️ #lizziekate #springalphabet #crossstitch #busyhandshappyheart #sashathestitcher #onestitchatatime

I got this done pretty quickly - thanks to countless episodes of Hawaii Five-0. Not that McGarrett is hard to look at or listen to. LOL. :)

Together *Chic Tags*

The sketch has been up since last Saturday - I'm late, I know. But you still have around three more weeks to participate and link up your projects here.  :) That's good news, yes?

Saturday Sketch - April

Come On Get Crafty's april sketch is up! Have you taken a look yet? :)

AprilSketch - Come On Get Crafty

I took the diagonal line and the circles from the sketch and made it my own - and LOVING it! The beautiful colors of Freckled Fawn Neon Enamel Dots inspired this layout. Might not be for everyone but just look at the brights against white? My heart goes pitter patter!

If you think you see an old piece of MM metal phrase, you're absolutely right. :D I got to hammer something the day I made this layout. LOL

Going old school today. Anyone still have eyelets/metal titles with eyelet-styled back left? I dare you to use at least one on a layout. Lol. #busyhandshappyheart #onmytablerightnow

Another favorite - Webster's Pages clips. *sigh* I just attach them to the paper with teeny tiny bit of glossy accents.

Don't forget to link your layouts to the post on Come On Get Crafty if you play along! I'm looking forward to see it!

You *Chic Tags*

I wanted to title this post 'The day I decided to machine stitch everything in sight' but decided to go with 'You' instead. LOL.

Confession : I'm not very friendly with my sewing machine. That's actually an understatement. So please excuse me while I celebrate this layout where I managed to use my sewing machine and live to actually type up this post! :D

you

Is it possible to fall in love with a patterned paper? Because I think I'm smitten, hopelessly head over heels with that Tree Top pp from our Good Tidings collection. I vote for this piece to be around forever and ever, make it permanent! I mean, just look at the gold foil polka dots - they're absolutely useable and versatile all year long! Are you with me?

you closeup

Hooray for weekends! Don't you feel that way when Friday come rolling around? :D I wish Friday comes more than once a week. Haha. I layered a file tab and a file card and stitch them all together to create this cluster.

I punched some circles out of a card from the School House cards set and used them through out my layout. I really love the map print but wanted it in smaller doses than 3x4 so this works! I cut some stars out from the Good Tidings rub-ons sheet, rearranged them to my liking and added some wood veneer stars from my stash, just because I love the way they look! :D

I'll see you soon!

Love This Right Here *Chic Tags*

  • I''m gonna keep this short - I have a headache that started at the back of my left eye yesterday morning and has now made its way to my left shoulder and I might be going crazy, but I think I can feel it traveling to my lower back. I shouldn't have waited, I know, but I try not to take any pain medications when Sam is not around. I feel like I need to be alert just in case I'm needed by the girls. While waiting for the meds to do their magic, I thought I'd post this quickly.
  • This layout is up on Chic Tags blog today :) Made me smile! Hop on over if you're interested in reading about  my thoughts while creating it.
